A Few More Introductions

Well it has been awhile since our last post.  We have been very busy with lots of different activities.

School obviously takes up a good part of the day but in the other time there is no shortage of things to do.

I am very proud of Kaelyn and Jacob.  They are both working very diligently at school.  In the past few weeks it is not unusual to find either of them up and starting their school work before we've even had breakfast.  They know what they have to do and have taken great initiative in getting right to task.

Besides school they have also been very helpful.  I must warn you that what you are about to see could be shocking to some.....so please look with caution!

Yes, Kaelyn and Jacob are busy peelng potatoes and carrots.  They have both become quite good at this task and often help when they can.  Ruth does most of the cooking for us but we all try to help by setting the table, clearing the table and doing dishes.


The Farm

If you haven't been up here at Ernie and Ruth's many of you probably think that we are actually staying right on the horse farm.  However, this isn't exactly true.  The farm where the barn and most of the horses are doesn't actually belong to the Nelson's but rather to a lovely older gentleman, Mr. Darling.  The barn and riding arena are over one country block from where we are staying.  To get there we have to drive.  However, Mr. Darling owns about 200 acres of land that comes right up to the Nelson's road.  The stud male horses that we introduced to you before stay right across the road.

SOME INTRODUCTIONS

At the farm their are some interesting characters that we really must introduce you too.  There is a little petting zoo just behind the barn where the goats and the pigs hang out.  Most of the animals have been rescued by Bethuel and have some interesting quirks.

DOLLY

Dolly is the largest goat on the farm.  She is very friendly and great with little kids.  She loves to be pet.

TINKERBELL

Tinkerbell has a shy personality.  But don't let that fool you.  She can be very fast.  One moment she will be hanging out with you in the pen and the next minute you'll see her walking across the farm.  She has this incredible talent of getting in and out of the pen....and I still haven't seen how she exactly does it!

BETTY and JINGLE BELLS



These lovely creatures are the pot-bellied pigs that you just can't help laughing at when you see them.  We save all our table scraps at home to feed these characters and as you can see they are not suffering!
